Achtung! Cthulhu Keeper’s and Investigator’s Guides lurking in the shadows

Achtung CthulhuThe Achtung! Cthulhu World War II Keeper’s and Investigator’s Guides are on Kickstarter right now.

Achtung! Cthulhu from Modiphius Entertainment was introduced last year by designer Chris Birch, author of Starblazer Adventures> and co-author (with Sarah Newton) of Legends of Anglerre. The setting, which takes the Lovecraft Cthulhu mythos and puts it in the middle of World War II has seen two releases so far, each one an entry in Newyon’s Zero Point campaign for the setting. Now Birch and company have turned to Kickstarter to expand the setting even farther with the Keeper’s and Investigator’s guides. The books, as they are planned, are compatible with the Call of Cthulhu game system but the first stretch goal introducing rules for Savage Worlds as well. Future stretch goals include “full campaigns, floor tiles and official Achtung! Cthulhu miniatures” according to the Kickstarter page. The Kickstarter itself is for two separate books. Achtung! Cthulhu – Keeper’s Guide to the Secret War concentrates on adding new stuff for those that want to run games in the Acthung! Cthulhu world including plot ideas, monsters, new rules and secret plots. The Investigator’s Guide to the Secret War looks to add more player options including “new occupations, skills equipment, and backgrounds from all over Europe and the British Commonwealth.” Both PDFs together run £20, with backers at the £40 or higher getting print copies of both books to go with their PDFs, including a copy of each PDF funded in the stretch goals, with a bunch of other options available. More information about Achtung! Cthulhu is available on the Kickstarter listing as well as the official Modiphius web page.
