Mice and Mystics story moments released on MP3 read by Rich Sommer for charity
Jerry Hawthorne and Plaid Hat Games have released a 53-MP3 set for $9.99 containing the story portions of Mice and Mystics. In Mice and Mystics the dungeon crawling adventures of your mice are interspersed with some (occasioanally lengthy) story bits, which you read at appropriate times. Now, instead of hearing your voice, you can hear the dulcet tons of Mad Men actor and board gaming celebrity Rich Sommer. The best part is that the entire sales price for the Mice and Mystics Story Moments MP3s will go to the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund, a nonprofit that was created, according to its website, “to collect and provide financial assistance to members of the public who are part of the gaming community and who have suffered personal hardship.”
I am a long way from the only person who is completely enamored with Mice and Mystics. It is one of my favorite games in recent years, blending dungeon crawling that feels heavy enough to still remind me of playing Heroquest as a kid, but is streamlined enough to make it easier to introduce as a ‘family’ game. It is also co-op, which made it possible to play the game with my 4-year-old son. If you are interested in more information about the Mice and Mystics Story Moments MP3 they are currently available for purchase from Plaid Hat Games. Less charitably (by still of interest to Mice and Mystics fans), Plaid Hat has also released a seven-page, downloadable new chapter for the game called Lost Chapter: Cat’s Cradle, which is available for $.99.
