Thrilling Adventure Hour looks to expand from world’s foremost olde-style radio play podcast to comics and more
If you haven’t heard of Thrilling Adventure Hour before, you really should go check that out before you read this. I mean, I enjoy reading my own words as much as the next person (way more, in fact), but Thrilling Adventure Hour making stage plays in the style of the old radio dramas (think The Shadow), frequently read by a pretty impressive array of personalities (Nathan Fillion, Ed Helms, Danny Pudi, and Andy Richter have all made appearances, to name just a small handful). In addition to the live stage shows, which – let us be honest – you probably can’t attend – they also release the shows into the world as podcasts, which makes sense given the type of show it is.
However, the people Thrilling Adventure Hour can’t be content with just their podcast radio drama empire. That would be too easy. Instead, they are looking to expand their radio show into an original graphic novel that contains all of the worlds that have appeared on Thrilling Adventure Hour. The material is written by the same people, but it will be, you know, more comic-y, and they have a pretty impressive cast of comic book artists on board to do work for the graphic novel. Anyway, it looks like a really interesting project with a lot of talented people involved and I am also fascinated with it as one of the ‘alternate means of podcast monetization’ that has become so much of that industry (especially out in L.A. from what I can tell), which has been led mostly by live shows. a href=”http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tah/thrilling-adventure-hour-the-graphic-novel-and-bey” alt=”Thrilling Adventure Hour Graphic Novel on Kickstarter”>If you would like more information on the Thrilling Adventure Hour graphic novel, you can check out the Kickstarter campaign.
