Hack / Slash 18 Review – The Case of the Killer and the Questing King

Hack Slash 18 ReviewHack Slash 18 Review Short Version: Cat gets a mysterious visit from a man that says he is out visiting his best customers, Pooch is utterly delightful, and a killer with a vendetta tries to even the score. If that doesn’t sound like a great issue of Hack / Slash, I don’t know what does.

Hack Slash 18 Review

Hack / Slash 18 finds a mysterious visitor showing up at Lisa and Chris’ door looking for Cat Curio, explaining that he is from a catalog that she subscribes to and likes to thank his best customers personally. Which is not at all even a little bit shady. Anyway, from there, we get a lot of Cat and Pooch trying to detective their way as to what is going on (including Pooch’s turn as a cow) and a killer with a vendetta that he needs to resolve. Cassandra and Vlad show up as well, but Hack / Slash 18 is pretty light on gore (there’s a little, but not much). Still, the issue taken as a whole is great. Lowder hits the tone just right and Pooch absolutely steals the issue. There are some really funny moments in there and I had a lot of fun reading this issue overall. There’s also some foreshadowing for a couple of pages, but that’s stuff that we’ll deal with later. For now, in a relatively hacking and slashing light issue, we get one of my favorite issues of the series in some time.
