Starship Corporation – Build spaceships. Test them. ??? Profit.

Starship Corporation - A spaceship-building strategy gameStarship Corporation from David Murent is currently raising funds on IndieGoGo, where you can check it out.

Starship Corporation is  a strategy game currently under development way over in Germany (unless you are in Germany in which case: very nearby in Germany) that tasks you with building a spaceship from 50 different components. Starship Corporation has you build your spaceship in much the same way that Dungeon Keeper has you building a dungeon: you are building a level. Once you build your spaceship in Starship Corporation, you can then see how it fairs against various corporations, resulting in a bigger profit for your corporation if your spaceship does well. I don’t know about you, but that sounds absolutely marvelous to me. The game itself, according to the developer, is played out over four different phases: ship design, crew and tactics, ship building, and trade. You can either build whatever ship you want in Starship Corporation or you can try and fill a contract for one of the bidders, trying to meet needs and cost requirements for that bidder. From what I can tell, ship building appears to be the most robust portion of the game (which is just fine with me). You have to try your best to optimize the type of modules you want on your ship and then – once you run a mission – you watch your crew scurry about the ship as they try and survive. As noted, better results means a better rating for your ship in Starship Corporation, which means that you make more money when you sell that ship. Starship Corporation really looks pretty fantastic, it has a nice ‘glowing line’ graphics style that seems appropriate for what it is going for and it seems like the kind of thing that I could lose a few weeks into, easily. The developer hopes to add a multiplayer mode if funding is met on the IndieGoGo campaign, so you can check it out if you are interested.

So, now that you’re done checking out Starship Corproation, what are you favorite strategy games? Are there any genres you would like to see treated that haven’t been? Talk about it in the comments!
