Last Frontier: The Vesuvius Incident – A solo wargame … in space!
War games are something that I actually really quite love, but I rarely get the opportunity to play. There is something about the war game that makes other board gamers recoil and so many of those interested turn to solo games. Enter games like Last Frontier: The Vesuvius Incident. Originally a lo-fi solo war game where you control 12 space marines as they try to rescue the surviving crew from the ship plumetting rapidly to its doom. However, Print and Play Productions would like to not just bring the original game back into print, but also bring out a slighter higher-fi version of the game, with the option of adding new art or getting a larger version of the game. As you would probably expect from a solo wargame, the game involves a lot of dice rolling as you try to advance your marines through the ship fast enough to save everyone but not so fast that you end up overwhelmed, or losing marines who are left alone to the darkness. I actually rather like the new art and I’d be curious to see how people feel about using the older art. I’m sure it has some nostalgia value for people that played the game back when it came out, so it’s good that it is being offered. If you would like more information, definitely check out the Last Frontier: The Vesuvius Incident Kickstarter page.
