Duck Quest? – An RPG about a duck saving ducklings
You can’t fault Duck Quest?
from Waffle Friday Studios and Louie Zong
for not having a unique premise. The idea: to make a flash-based roleplaying game featuring a mother duck who has lost her ducklings and must go on a quest to find them. We don’t have a lot to go on about the actual gameplay of Duck Quest?
yet, but the art that has been released is pretty fantastic, featuring some really well done pixel art. I especially enjoy the very pleased looking large man sitting at the hot dog stand that you can see over on the game’s Kickstarter page
. From the description of the game, it looks like the story of Duck Quest?
will be as much about the cast of characters that the mother duck meets on her way to retrieve her ducklings as it will the mama duck herself: “Join a mother duck on her quest (?) to find her gale-scattered young ‘uns throughout a city park. Along the way, she will meet a host of memorable pixelated characters, who may touch you with their heart-rending stories. However, the more likely response is a chuckle, or possibly even a guffaw.” All of the backing tiers ($5 and up) include some sort of drawing from Louie Zong (you can check out his Deviant Art page
, which features some very nice stuff) and, per an update, will also include a downloadable version of Duck Quest?
as well, so you can save ducklings off-line as well as on. Overall, Duck Quest?
is a really cute premise for a game with great art. As for the gameplay itself, the Kickstarter promises that it will be an adventure game with RPG elements. Check out the Kickstarter
(Where you can help fund the game, possibly receiving a T-shirt of some Duck Quest?
playing cards for your trouble), as well as Louie Zong’s Tumblr
