Weekend Deals for 7/6/2012 to 7/8/2012: Crusader Kings 2, Jagged Alliance 2, Kingdoms of Amalur and more
Hey! New banner! Still, I doubt my incredible (?) graphic design skills are why you came here. Instead, you likely came here looking to get some games for very little money. And that is a thing I can help you with! This post-Independence Day weekend is actually a pretty strong one, too.
Amazon easily wins the weekend so far. They’ve got tons of Paradox games on sale, including a bunch of different bundles that include Magicka, Crusader Kings II (Which I love dearly, seriously, look under the AARs for my Game of Thrones AAR), Victoria II, and Majesty 2. They also have a Square Enix bundle that includes Just Cause 2, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Kane and Lynch 2, Supreme Commander 2, and Tomb Raider: Underworld for $7.49. I can’t recommend Borderlands for $7.49 strongly enough if you like first person shooters and loot-filled dungeon crawls. Grand Theft Auto IV for $9.99 is a good deal, too. Then there’s Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, which is a little soulless, but it’s a solid take on the open-world RPG with combat that is actual fun and well worth it at $24.49. Finally, Costume Quest, Psychonauts, and Stacking for a total of $9.99 is a pretty great deal, too. Whew, that’s a lot of deals.
GameFly still has their Indie-pendence Day Bundle running, which includes All Zombies Must Die!, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Frozen Synapse, Limbo, and Sanctum for $10.00. Which is a crazy good deal. Seriously, that’s an amazing deal. Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes for $3.75 is a pretty great deal, as well, if you like puzzle RPGs.
Gamestop has the Witcher and the Witcher 2 in a bundle for $27.49. It might not change your life or whatever, but I thoroughly enjoyed both games (the first is a little more old school and the second is probably the better overall game), but they are both worth playing. They also have Empire and Napoleon: Total War for $7.49 in a bundle if you would rather play strategy games.
Jagged Alliance for $2.99 and Jagged Alliance 2 for $4.99 highlight GOG’s Strategy First sale, which also includes Port Royale 2 for $2.99. Jagged Alliance 2 is as good a take on whatever strategic/tactical genre you want to put that series and XCOM in as exists in the world. If you loved XCOM, but missed Jagged Alliance 2, you really should grab it.
Green Man Gaming
There’s a 25 percent off any purchase running through July 9, so that might be worth checking out if there’s a new game you have your eyes on.
Pretty light weekend on Steam as I write this, with the only real highlight being Wizorb for $1.49. I haven’t played it before, but I’m probably going to grab Tribute Games’ blockbreaker RPG for that price. I mean, why not? EDIT: Well, this was not a weekend deal, and I wasn’t paying enough attention to the end date. So… Sorry, I guess?
