Volgarr the Viking from Crazy Viking Studios (@VOLGARR) – A violent 16-bit sidescroller

Volgarr the Viking from Crazy Viking Studios looks pretty darned sweet. Skip to about 1:05 to see the game in action, but be warned that it contains a lot of enemies violently exploding into 16-bit … bits … of bones and gore. Also, listening to the guys name off their inspirations (and actually show what inspired them about those games) is pretty interesting stuff. Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Rastan, and Castlevania all make the list and you can actually see the bits that they took from those games because they show it to you. You also get to gather gear over the course of the game that give special abilities. Like making enemies explode in a gore-cloud. No, no. That appears to be a regular ability. The game also looks pretty darned great, with sharp 16-bit graphics. Crazy Viking Studios are asking for $18,000 on Kickstarter (the game is $10).
