Mojang releases details of Minecraft 1.3, coming August 1 – Villagers can now sell items, emeralds added
Mojang has posted a brief list of the important changes coming to Minecraft in version 1.3, which will be released on August 1, 2012. Besides the usual litany of bug fixes, emeralds and emerald ore will be added to Minecraft, giving players a new block to search for (or build with if you’re the LEGO block-style player). They have also implemented the ability for villagers to trade with players, making it now possible to buy items from villagers. That’s a pretty cool addition, and moves Minecraft ever-closer to being a full-fledged living, interactive world (although it is already closer than many games will ever get). You can also now write in books, in case you were wondering what you were going to do with that complete recreation of Myst (Youtube) you made in the game. There is also a new tripwire that I’m sure clever players will think of better ways to use than I ever will. I would primarily use it to mess with my friends playing on a server with me, but that’s just me. You can check out the blog post or the full changelog (via Reddit) for more information.
