Penny Arcade: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 by @zeboydgames gets a release date

The third entry into Penny Arcade’s roleplaying game series, On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, will be released on July 10, 2012, on Steam and Xbox Live Indie Games for $4.99 or 400 Microsoft Points, as appropriate. This iteration of the game is made by Zeboyd, the maker of Breath of Death VII, a retro 8-bit style RPG (think the NES Dragon Quest games) and its follow-up, Cthulhu Saves the World, Zeboyd’s take on 16-bit RPGs. I played a good chunk of both of Zeboyd’s previous games, and they were both very good, old-school RPGs with some genuinely funny writing. I also enjoyed the previous two OtRSPoD games, which were made by Hotehead Games. Still, the art style of the newest game in the series is – in my opinion – much better than the cartoonish style of the previous two games, instead opting for graphics that look very much like those from Final Fantasy VI, which is one of the nicest looking SNES games ever made. I’ll be picking up a copy and letting you know what I think (hopefully good things) in just over a month.
