Fray by @BrainCandyGames – Simultaneous Turn Based Strategy Game Gets a Release Date and a Trailer
Fray is going to get a lot of comparisons to Frozen Synapse because we don’t have a lot of simultaneous turn-based strategy games to compare things to. Still, while both games involve you taking your turn at the same time as your opponent and then unfreezing time to see what happens, the two games are definitely different. Fray, which is scheduled to be released on June 19, 2012, on Steam, Desura, and Gamers Gate, looks like it brings character customization, a 3D map (which is a big difference from Frozen Synapse), and really looks like it generally goes about the same gameplay mechanic in different ways. The game presently features 12 maps, 6 classes (you take four into battle with you each time, customizing your team to try and get an advantage), 20 pieces of equipment, and two corporations (that provided different bonuses). The Beta is presently open for registration and if you preorder directly from Brain Candy Games then you can get two copies of the game for $19.99.
